Meta Horizon+ Guide 2026: Is the VR Subscription Worth It?

What is Meta Horizon+?

The Meta Horizon+ subscription (formerly Meta Quest+) is the flagship subscription service for Meta Quest headsets. Think PlayStation+, but you won’t need this one to play online. That’s right, this completely optional subscription is not needed to enjoy your headset, but it does provide some serious value as it’s basically a VR game pass.

Meta Horizon+ gives you two monthly games and a catalog of rotating games to play for just the cost of your subscription ($7.99 per month, $59.99 per year as of March 2026). This means if you are the type of person to try out a ton of games rather than dedicating time to one or two, this can save you some serious money over purchasing games outright.

Monthly Redeemables vs. The Games Catalog: How It Works

As mentioned above, games in Meta Horizon+ fall into one of two categories:

Monthly Redeemable Games

Every month, Meta Horizon+ will offer two featured games to redeem. Once claimed, these games will remain playable for as long as you have your subscription. So if you redeem Arizona Sunshine Remake in March 2026, you can still play the game in December as long as you still have an active subscription.

“Will I keep my Meta Horizon+ Games if I cancel?” is the most common question I see online, and the answer is NO. Just like with PlayStation Plus, you will lose access to your redeemed games if you cancel your subscription. However, if you cancel your subscription and resubscribe later, you will regain access to the games you previously redeemed, so there is no penalty for skipping a month.

The Rotating Game Catalog

The rotating game catalog is more comparable to Game Pass or Netflix. These games are added to the service, and you can play them for as long as they are available. Once they’re gone, you no longer have access to them. So if you start playing Dungeons of Eternity, but it leaves the service, you will need to purchase the game to regain access.

Meta Horizon+ Pricing: Monthly vs. Annual Plans

To get an even better deal, Meta Horizon+ offers a yearly subscription discount. The 2026 Meta Horizon+ Cost breakdown is as follows:

Monthly Subscription

Yearly Subscription

Monthly Cost

$7.99

$4.99

Yearly Cost

$95.88

$59.99

Annual vs monthly savings of $3 per month makes the annual plan one of the best values in VR Gaming. Additionally, to add even more value, Meta Horizon+ offers exclusive subscriber discounts such as 30% off coupon codes and steeper discounts during sales. The best part? You can try it free before you buy with the Meta Horizon+ free trial.

Is it Worth it?

In my opinion, Meta Horizon+ is the best VR subscription for most users in 2026. While Viveport may have a larger library, the requirement to have access to a dedicated PC makes it a far more expensive barrier to entry. If you play mostly Meta Quest standalone, I highly recommend Meta Horizon+ for the cost savings that come with your subscription.
