Globular Cluster CMQ3 V2 Review: The Quest 3 Strap To Beat
The BoboVR head straps have been the kings of Meta Quest comfort since the Quest 2. In 2026, the king may have finally been dethroned. Globular Cluster has been making a huge impact in the XR space with their comfort mods, and their new CMQ3 V2 may just be my new favorite Quest 3 head strap. Ditch the uncomfortable stock strap and slide into the most adjustable Quest 3 strap ever released.

Comfort & Material Quality: Customizable Comfort
The CMQ3 V2 is the most customizable head strap I have ever used. By default, it’s similar to other halo straps, with a plastic band that wraps around your head to hug the base of your skull. Fabric inserts hug the back of your head and forehead; these inserts are removable, similar to the Globular Cluster facial interface, which allows you to switch out different fabrics depending on your preferences. Each insert comes in the box with faux leather and a sweat-absorbing fabric.
The more interesting part of this headset that sets it apart is the removable back half of the strap. While halo-style straps are my favorite for active VR gaming, when it comes to watching a movie or doing work in VR, the hard plastic in the back makes it impossible to sit or lie down comfortably. Globular Cluster has finally solved this with a detachable back with two additional options in the box: a silicone-like adjustable fabric and an actual fabric back strap reminiscent of the Apple Vision Pro. Finally, with one strap, you can have a modular system that gives you the ultimate comfort no matter what you are using your headset for.

Does It Fix the Quest 3’s Front-Heavy Pressure?
After a little more than a week of heavy testing with games like Forefront, Beat Saber, and Supernatural, plus a couple of movies and some time working on the website in VR, I can say without a doubt this is the best Quest 3 strap I have used.
No matter which configuration I used, the headset felt well secured, the weight felt evenly distributed across my head instead of front-heavy like the default strap, and I was easily able to lie down and watch a movie comfortably.
Pros and Cons
The Verdict: An Essential Upgrade?
If you don’t need a battery head strap, this is easily the most worthwhile purchase you can add to your Quest 3 today. Hell, even if you do need a battery, you can purchase an Anker Nano power bank which fits directly into the back holder of the main strap.
Honestly, whichever type of VR user you are, from a developer working on the next big app to a hardcore gamer, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better head strap than the Globular Cluster CMQ3 V2.
