VR Rock Ray-Ban Meta Lenses Review: Affordable Transition Lenses For All
Most people buying Ray-Ban Meta glasses don’t expect just how useful transition or prescription lenses are. If you didn’t opt for those options in your original purchase, or the extra cost was intimidating, I found a better solution: VR Rock.

Installation: Popping the Lenses (Without Breaking Your Frames)
A Ray-Ban Meta lens replacement is a cakewalk. Here are some quick instructions:
How to Change Ray-Ban Meta Lenses
- Grab the bottom corner of one of your lenses. Be sure to securely hold the frames. I had the most success holding the glasses facing away from me with the arms unfolded.
- “Roll” your lenses outwards from the bottom; you will see them quickly start to move out of the frame. Change your hand position to roll the entire bottom of the lens out.
- Once the bottom is out, slide the top down and out of the frame.
- Slide your new lens into the top, and then roll backwards into the frame.
- Repeat on the other side.
As you can see, the VR Rock installation is simple; anyone can do it with no tools.
The Transition Experience: Indoor Clarity to Outdoor Sun
While the VR Rock lenses are more affordable than other options on the market, that comes with a performance hit. These are nowhere near what can be achieved with something like the XtraActive Gen 2 transitions you can get from your local optometrist. I also have official Ray-Ban Meta transition lenses on my Gen 1 pair, and I can say without a doubt the official lenses transition faster and get darker than the VR Rock options.
That said, if you go into the VR Rock with the proper expectations of what you should get for $45 vs. official options at $150+, these get about 90% as bright, and the transition speed isn’t terrible. On a sunny day, it took about 15 minutes to get to their full darkness, and about the same to transition back once inside.

When comparing VR Rock vs. official Ray-Ban lenses, the biggest selling points are the price and options. VR Rock offers a ton of options, from colors to polarized lenses to tons of coating options; they have you covered.

The Verdict: Are VR Rock Lenses Worth It?
So, is VR Rock legit? I’d say so; it did take about 3 weeks to get my order, so definitely don’t expect overnight availability, and while they aren’t quite as good as other premium options on the market, they are the best affordable transition lenses for Meta smart glasses.
